The 3H-Sender Institute
Founded in 2003 by Dr Lin Fang, a physician trained at Fujian Medical University, 3H-Sender (光照人, "sending light and warmth") has built over twenty years an integrated business around three activities: organic tea, forest health and wellbeing, and ecotourism. The tea garden is grown in association with fragrant rosewood, agarwood, moringa and other precious species — a patented cultivation method that naturally keeps insects away from the tea plants.
The estate includes a garden of a hundred trees, a hundred fruits, a hundred bamboos and a hundred medicinal plants, about four kilometres of forest-health trails, a sunrise viewing pavilion, and a reception centre of nearly 7,000 m² (accommodation, dining, meeting rooms). Water comes entirely from a mountain spring; the air is rich in negative ions.
Recognitions: national demonstration base for organic food production, Chinese forest-health base, Fujian provincial forest-health base, nature-education base. IFOAM member since 2011, invited to the 17th, 18th and 19th Organic World Congresses.
The estate's organic tea
Five certifications
Organic China, European Union (CN-BIO-154), USDA Organic, JAS Japan, Rainforest Alliance. EU, US and Japanese certifications obtained every year since 2010.
Analyses
Greenpeace 2016 report: of 465 pesticide residues tested by the SGS laboratory, none detected in 3H-Sender samples. ISO 22000 (HACCP) since 2009.
The teas
Organic Tie Guan Yin (fresh or roasted aroma), organic black tea, winter-honey tea (patented process), tea powders, fragrant-rosewood flowers and leaves, moringa.
A richer composition
Five-year comparative study by the Chinese Academy of Forestry: tea plants grown under rosewood and agarwood show higher polyphenol and catechin contents.
